The IAB had its annual retreat in Stockholm, SE, on 25-26 April 2008. The meeting focused on architectural issues facing the Internet, with each IAB member presenting one or more technical topics. A variety of areas were discussed, including routing security, unwanted traffic, IPv6 characteristics and transition, firewalls, protocol scaling and walled-gardens, peer-to-peer architectures, pervasive tunneling, user-oriented traffic control, and the nature and evolution of the IP model and IP addresses. The group will select a few of these for focused IAB activity during the coming year, and will develop a more detailed internal work plan over the next few weeks. The IAB also discussed business items related to its RFC oversight function; these items will be summarized in the forthcoming meeting minutes.
