The IAB held its annual retreat on 27-28 April in Ashburn, VA. Over this two day meeting the board reviewed several business items, and then discussed a range of architectural topics of interest to the Internet. From these discussions, the IAB will develop its work plan for the coming year. Topics considered included the IP mobility architecture, IPv4 address exhaustion and v6 transition, aircraft and IP, character encoding schemes and their impact on interoperability and user experience, IDN-TLD considerations, routing security and PKI trust anchors, application-layer intermediaries and application use of transport protocols, and the emerging “Internet of Things”.
