Search for Independent Submissions Editor (ISE) Candidates

The IAB is responsible for overseeing the volunteer IndependentSubmissions Editor (ISE) position. The current appointee is Adrian Farrel, whose term expires in February 2022. Adrian is not seeking another appointment; the IAB thanks him for his service over the past four years.

The requirements and responsibility for the role are documented in RFC 8730.

The IAB (with help from the other RFC streams) is identifying potential candidates for this role, with the intent to gather community feedback and make an appointment early next year. Suggestions for candidates are welcome at ise-search22@iab.org.

The IAB is pleased to appoint Paul Wouters to the 2022 ICANN Nominating Committee.

The IAB would like to thank everyone who put their name forward as a candidate for this position, as well as those who provided feedback during this process. The IAB also thanks Peter Koch for his service in this role over the past two years.

IAB Seeks Feedback on Candidate for ICANN NomCom; Nominations remain open

As previously announced, the IAB (on behalf of the IETF) has been asked to supply a member to the 2022 ICANN Nominating Committee (NomCom) by mid-September 2021. After extending the call for nominations, two candidates have accepted a nomination:

  • Vittorio Bertola
  • Paul Wouters

The IAB solicits feedback on these candidates by 23:59 UTC on Wednesday, 2021-09-15. Please send your responses to iab-chair@iab.org and execd@iab.org. If you would like your feedback to be anonymized, please indicate such in your response.

The IAB desires to have a diverse pool of candidates for the appointments it makes. Since there was initially only a single candidate for this appointment, the IAB will continue to accept nominations during the feedback period. The names of any additional candidates that are put forward will also be sent to the community for feedback.

RFC 9075 on Report from the IAB COVID-19 Network Impacts Workshop 2020

The IAB has published RFC 9075: Report from the IAB COVID-19 Network Impacts Workshop 2020.

Abstract: The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic caused changes in Internet user behavior, particularly during the introduction of initial quarantine and work-from-home arrangements. These behavior changes drove changes in Internet traffic.

The Internet Architecture Board (IAB) held a workshop to discuss network impacts of the pandemic on November 9-13, 2020. The workshop was held to convene interested researchers, network operators, network management experts, and Internet technologists to share their experiences. The meeting was held online given the ongoing travel and contact restrictions at that time.

Note that this document is a report on the proceedings of the workshop.  The views and positions documented in this report are those of the workshop participants and do not necessarily reflect IAB views and positions.
