November 2017 meetings: 3.1. IETF BOFs that may be relevant to IEEE 802 https://trac.tools.ietf.org/bof/trac/ - IETF Administrative Support Activity 2.0 (IASA20) - Data Center Routing (DCROUTING) Russ Housley noted that the DCROUTING BOF may be of interest to 802. - Software Updates for Internet of Things (SUIT) Russ Housley noted that the SUIT BOF is in the process of being chartered as a Working Group, and was formerly known as Firmware Update (FUD). - Trusted Execution Environment Provisioning (TEEP) 3.2. IEEE 802 PARs that may be relevant to IETF http://www.ieee802.org/PARs.shtml - 802.11ax - Amendment: High Efficiency (HE) Wireless LAN Dorothy Stanley noted that this is an amendment to an existing PAR to add extensions into the 6 GHz band. - 802.11az - Amendment: Next Generation Positioning (NGP) Dorothy Stanley noted that this is an amendment to an existing PAR to add security. - 802.15.10a - Amendment: Recommended Practice for Routing Packets in IEEE 802.15.4 Dynamically Changing Wireless Networks 4. Areas of shared interest between the IETF and IEEE 802 Russ Housley reported that he has been making updates to the shared items document and will send out version 25 after the meeting. See https://www.iab.org/wp-content/IAB-uploads/2013/01/Potential-areas-for-IETF_IEEE802-Coordination_25.txt Item 3. IETF NVO3 and IEEE 802.1 DCB Russ Housley reported that 802.1Qcn is being renamed to 802.1Qcy. Pat Thaler added that the draft is out for WG ballot, and they are hoping to have it to sponsor ballot sometime between November and March. Item 5. Enabling use of Local Addresses for virtualization and IoT Suresh Krishnan reported that Bernie Volz and Tomasz Mrugalski are working on a document on using DHCP to assign MAC addresses, and that they hope to have it posted as an Internet-Draft by mid-November. The owners of this shared item will be updated to Glenn Parsons, Pat Thaler, and Suresh Krishnan. Item 11. IETF and IEEE 802.1 OmniRAN TG Russ Housley reported that 802.1CF is working on comment resolution from the WG ballot right now. Pat Thaler added that she expects it will go to sponsor ballot sometime after March 2018. Item 21. 6tisch Russ Housley noted that with the publication of RFC 8180 on "Minimal IPv6 over the TSCH Mode of IEEE 802.15.4e (6TiSCH) Configuration," this shared item has been quiet, and asked whether it can be closed. Suresh Krishnan replied that the item should be kept open for one more cycle, and the group can revisit whether to close it at the next meeting. Item 22. CAPWAP extensions in OPSAWG Russ Housley reported that draft-ietf-opsawg-capwap-alt-tunnel has been resurrected. Warren Kumari has taken over from Benoit Claise as the shepherding AD for the document. The document will be published as Experimental. Dorothy Stanley added that 802.11 reviewed a previous version of the document and does not think it needs another review. This item can be closed once draft-ietf-opsawg-capwap-alt-tunnel is published as an RFC. Item 24. Coordination between the IETF and IEEE 802 on Pervasive Monitoring Russ Housley reported that 802E is still in Task Group ballot; the document will be sent to the IETF for review once it is stable. Item 25. Layer2/Layer 3 Interaction for Time-Sensitive Traffic Pat Thaler reported that 802.1 is looking at control protocols and may want feedback from IETF DETNET. DETNET has a call for adoption out on a data plane draft (draft-dt- detnet-dp-sol). There continues to be a lot of overlap of people working in the two groups, and they will continue to circulate documents as appropriate. Item 27. Development of YANG models in the IEEE 802 Robert Wilton reported that the core architecture document is currently in Working Group Last Call. Scott Mansfield added that IEEE 802 has created a YANGsters mailing list to leverage the expertise on hand to make sure that the IEEE is following the same guidelines as everyone else. There are now 4 YANG projects in IEEE; Scott will send a followup email to the list with the details for those projects. Russ Housley asked if there had been a response from the IEEE RAC on the request for a YANG module for ethertypes. Glenn Parsons replied that the RAC won't do this because they consider it to be standards work, but they are happy to have the work done in 802.1. Marc Holness is putting together a proposal for that. Item 30. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Russ Housley reported that the IETF IPWAVE WG has a draft (draft-ietf- ipwave-ipv6-over-80211ocb) currently in Working Group Last Call on how to run IPv6 over IEEE 802.11ocb.
