Call for Nominations for the Community Coordination Group (CCG)

19 May 2026, 7:49 p.m.
On behalf of the IETF, the IAB appoints three representatives to the Community Coordination Group (CCG).

The CCG provides advice and guidance to the IETF Trust/IETF Intellectual Property Management Corporation (IETF IPMC) in matters related to the IANA trademarks and the IANA domain names. The process for appointing these representatives is outlined in RFC 8090.

This year, the IAB will select one person for a two-year term beginning in August 2026. The incumbent is Tim Wicinski, who has said he is willing to continue for another term.

The IAB is currently seeking a diverse pool of candidates for the CCG. Nominations (including self-nominations) should be sent to the IAB Chair and the IAB Executive Administrative Manager at iab-chair@iab.org and execd@iab.org. Please include e-mail contact details with the nomination.

Note that Trustees of the IETF Trust and Directors of the IETF Intellectual Property Management Corporation (IETF IPMC) are not eligible for this position.

The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, 2026-06-16. The candidates' names will be posted to the IETF-Announce mailing list as well as the IAB website at the close of the nominations period.

The IAB will select from the available candidates, taking into account the familiarity with IANA and the IETF, their roles, and the IETF protocols. The selected candidate will serve on the CCG on personal title; however, the IAB will be looking for candidates who have an understanding of the interests of the technical community.

If you are willing to be considered or would like to nominate someone else for one of the CCG positions, please send an email message to iab-chair@iab.org and execd@iab.org by 23:59 AOE on 22026-06-16.

The current IETF-selected members of the CCG and their terms of appointment are:

  • Russ Housley, 2019-2027
  • Barry Leiba, 2019-2027
  • Tim Wicinski, 2020-2026
